How Much Does A Music Royalty Accounting Software Cost?
Music royalty accounting software can boost your profits while increasing your accounting efficiency and accuracy. However, there are different solutions out there, all with their own features, catering to different use cases and different budgets. This can introduce some financial variables into the equation. Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know when you are thinking about using a music royalties software solution for your business.
Pay For What You Need
Every business is unique, and the requirements can vary greatly. Curve’s software provides a comprehensive set of features while still offering you flexibility. The software can handle the full management of agreements, catalogue metadata creation, sales data ingestion, statement creation and validation, analytics and report generation, automated CWR registration, and you can even make payments to rightsholders directly from the platform!
Since every business has different needs, you may require all of these features or only a selection of them. To accommodate this and to offer a solution that fits your workflows, we offer both a Lite and a Pro version, giving you the choice between our full feature set and a simpler, reduced feature set.
Assess Your Catalogue
The size and complexity of your catalogue are likely to be important factors in determining what is the cost of royalty accounting software. For instance, a smaller indie company might have a simpler workflow than an organisation that is managing and registering large volumes of catalogue with different partners. However, both types of company might run into similar complications, such as complex changes to rights ownership, which can generate heaps of desk hours.
As such, it is important to partner with a software provider that understands your catalogue and the catalogue management needs that come with it. While the size of the catalogue matters, so does the complexity of your catalogue and collection society network. Working with a software provider that understands the industry and its workflows and can take this into account when discussing a fee will make the process more fair and personalised.
No More Counting The Add-ons
Curve's software is not add-on based: we believe in making our features available to all our clients to offer everyone the same product with the same great feature set without having to pay to get access to features we've already built. We offer two different royalty accounting software solutions: Lite and Pro. The Pro software is Curve's main software with our full feature set, while the Lite product is a simpler version of our software, which is aimed at smaller businesses without complex royalty accounting requirements. Pro clients will have more features available than Lite clients, but all clients in each tier will have the same features available to them. We do charge an additional fee for Pro client customisations such as whitelabeling and API usage.
If you require additional assistance during or after onboarding to Curve, or if you would like us to handle your onboarding or ongoing business management entirely, we can do so at an additional cost. If you would like to use our Services, we can take on as much or as little as you would like, for as long as you need. Whether you need an extra pair of hands during a busy period or continually throughout the year, our Services Managers can help you save time and make your workflow more efficient and accurate.
Determining Your Fees
At Curve, we take a flexible and personal approach to your license fees. Because we have all worked in royalties and copyright during our careers, we first aim to get a solid understanding of your business and workflows. To calculate our Pro fees, we will take into account the size of your catalogue, the number of statements you generate, and the frequency at which you generate statements. These datapoints will help us determine your fees to license the platform. We will always make sure we give your business the space to grow without risking an immediate fee increase - we want your business to succeed.
Our Lite fees are more straightforward: pricing starts at £20/month for a bundle of catalogue items. When you need more bundles, the price increases, forming the base of royalty accounting cost.
Our sales team is always happy to answer any questions about our fee structure and work with you to find the best solution for your business needs.
